ChÅjÅ«-Giga
The ChÅjÅ«-jinbutsu-giga (é³¥ç£äººç©æ¯ç», lit.: animal-person caricatures) is a set of picture scrolls dating back to the 12th-13th century. They depict anthropomorphic rabbits, monkeys and frogs, among other animals. It is thought that it was also satirical, as monks are made fun of by depicting them as animals. The scrolls are designated as a national treasure in Japan, and are by many credited as the 'first manga' (Japanese comic).
The ChÅjÅ«-Giga V60 depicts the famous scene of the frog and rabbit wrestling, as well as a rabbit chasing a thief with a long stick.
Shonzui
Shonzui (祥ç, lit.: good omen/auspicious) is a type of Japanese pattern that features auspicious symbols like pine, bamboo and plum blossoms on a larger, geometrical tortoise-shell pattern.
